Who Are We?

The Basics:

  • Founded: November 25th, 2004
  • Server: Illidan (PvP - U.S. CST)
  • Battlegroup: Rampage (BG 7)
  • Faction: Horde

Team Ice started out as a group of hardcore gamers in EverQuest (Triton/Povar) that were also very close friends. We had fun and we enjoyed doing things that we were told were out of our reach. Back when the Plane of Fear was difficult we went in and destroyed it with a group of 6, all caster classes and no melee -- we're still known for that feat to this day. Shortly after Luclin, we gained the ability to communicate with players on other servers which allowed us to increase our ranks.

Through the years we have always remained a front-runner in progression, both server and world-wide. Since its creation, Team Ice has evolved into a core of skilled, dedicated friends who strive for success and overcome whatever is put in front of us.

Guild Leadership

Team Ice's philosophy is to have a very strong leadership presence that interacts with the guild as a whole while, most importantly, leading as equals and not superiors, primarily providing direction. Without you there is no guild -- you are just as important as we are. Good communication keeps a guild strong. As such, we operate as a "guild council" and each have respective duties.

Our leadership is comprised of the following players:

  • Team Ice's Guild Council: Distomos, Doko, Footspeedy, Rathbone, Veha
Raiding Schedule

The raid schedule (based in server-time -- that is, U.S. Central Standard Time) varies based on raid makeup and current goals. As such, raid times will change when new progression content is available. While we don't expect applicants to be online for every raid from start to finish, we do expect a minimum of 85% overall attendance. Please note that this is the absolute minimum. Additionally, trials are encouraged to participate in off-hour activities as it allows members to get a better idea of your skills as a player.

Raid invites start roughly 15 minutes prior to our raid start time. We expect that, unless otherwise noted, that anyone who can be on at invite start will be available for the raid.

We raid five nights a week -- with Friday and Saturdays being off-nights -- from 7:30pm CST to 12:00am CST. Raid times on farm content generally ends at 12:00am CST. During progression content, we will push our raids later (read: 1:00-1:30am CST) depending on our progress.

Sunday:  7:30pm CST 12:00am CST
Monday:  7:30pm CST 12:00am CST
Tuesday:  7:30pm CST 12:00am CST
Wednesday:  7:30pm CST 12:00am CST
Thursday:  7:30pm CST 12:00am CST
Friday:  Off-night Off-night
Saturday:  Off-night Off-night

Loot System

Team Ice uses a custom officer merit system. Raids attended (broken down hourly) and items received are tracked through what we call the Ice Point System, or IPS for short. The benefits of a merit system are quite obvious, especially in a game like World of Warcraft -- the more you put into the guild, the more you will get out of it. Merit hoarding and "holding out" are monitored closely by our officers and forced looting is done where needed to remedy a problem. However, it is important to note that IPS is not DKP -- the points you accumulate are there to help the officers determine whether or not loot is being sufficiently distributed. It is not a competition.

To learn more about the IPS system, please read our frequently asked questions.

Our Expectations

 Basic Requirements:

  • A Stable Internet Connection: If it is common for you to disconnect when you do half a lap around Dalaran, we might not be the guild for you. Your computer and connection need to be able to handle both current and future content.
  • Communication: You must be able to both use and speak in Ventrilo.

  • Gear: While it is not necessary for you to have best in slot items in every slot of your gear, it is expected that your current gear reflects the dedication you possess as a raider -- that is, it is properly enchanted and gemmed. Your gear provides insight to us as to how knowledgeable you are of your class and your willingness to put in additional effort into your character.
  • Intelligence: We do not ask that you are God's gift to mathematics, but we do expect that you are able to coherently form thoughts and communicate effectively. We expect maturity and professionalism; we are very interested in players who care as much about their guild's reputation as we do.

Desired Traits:

  • Initiative: You continually strive to better yourself in terms of your knowledge of boss strategies and are constantly seeking ways to improve your character and your own play-style. You are open to experimenting with different gear sets and always come prepared with the correct consumables, enchants, and a focused attitude.
  • Dedication: You intend to maintain high raid attendance to the best of your abilities. You go above and beyond what is asked of you not only in raids but outside of them, as well. We are looking for players who take responsibility for their actions and are someone we can rely on.
  • Self-Awareness: You are able to adapt on-the-fly to different situations and are able to juggle more than just the basic assignment requested of you. While we do not expect perfection in your play, we very much expect that you are aware of the areas of play you need to improve on. If you are not able to realize how to fix your mistakes, be prepared for constructive criticism. However, be aware that we are not here to hold your hand and that if you are not a self-starter and are unable to perform/improve by yourself, we might not be the guild for you.
  • Personality: We want individuals who are skilled but, more importantly, we want someone that we can tolerate raiding with several days per week. Raiding with us is not a job -- you cannot put on your headphones and ignore the individual in the cubicle next to you. That is not how we work. You're very much a part of the environment. You're able to cut loose, but know when to put yourself together and focus.
Trial Period Information
  • Applicants are required to maintain 85% activity or better.
  • Applicants are not entitled to loot -- period. You're here to make member, not get geared.
  • Your trial is a subjective period of time as determined by the officers, typically lasting about one month. If necessary to further evaluate performance, a person's trial can be extended.
  • Applicants are rated on personal attendance, performance, and feedback. Feedback is gathered from comments by members made in a private trial thread.
Application Process

After you submit an application:

It will be copied over to a private forum for our guild members to submit feedback. After feedback is provided, if we are interested, we will contact you via e-mail to set up a Ventrilo interview to gain more insight as to who you are as a player. Each applicant is required to interview with us. After your Ventrilo interview, we will make a final decision wether to invite you or not. If you are accepted, you will be tagged as a trial.

If you are accepted a trial:

You will be provided with a "trial package" that includes all necessary information that you need to know. You will also be assigned a mentor in addition to Distomos to serve as your primary contact regarding social questions about the guild. We realize that it's difficult to transfer to a new server and not know anyone -- our hope is that a mentor helps to faster bridge that gap.

A Final Note

Please keep in mind that we do not know you and your application is your first impression to us. Take your time filling out the application and provide as much information as you can. The more you elaborate and the more effort you put in, the more your application is going to stand out from the rest. We don't care if you're equipped with orange or have 10,000+ achievement points -- if your application is written poorly, we are going to assume that you take the same attitude towards raiding: that is, little to no effort.

Please note that, due to the volume of applications that we receive, it can sometimes take a bit for us to respond to each applicant. Be patient. We respond to all applicants via e-mail. It is very important that your e-mail address is verified through our system after you submit an application. Whether we're archiving your application or accepting you as a trial, we will respond to you.

There you have it! Again, if you have any questions, please feel free to private message Distomos on our forums or contact them in-game during non-raid hours. If you feel confident that you are the type of player we're seeking, please click the link below:
